A message from Provost David Graham

Since the adoption of “Reaching Up, Reaching Out,,” we have been hard at work developing an academic action plan that will ensure we realize the broad objectives articulated in the framework document. Through the actions outlined in that plan, we commit ourselves to creating an educational environment in which a key measure of our success is the difference we make for students of a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. We are devising means to ensure that students, before they begin their academic programs and as they progress through those programs, have the foundational skills they need in order to achieve the high standards we set for them. We are considering a range of ways to improve the faculty experience by considerably enriching our support for research and creative activity, investing more than we ever have before in support for our graduate students, increasing opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening our support of new faculty members, and providing guidance and encouragement to faculty members who may seek positions of academic leadership. We are striving to place principles and priorities above convenience and habit in determining how best to administer our academic operations, whether it be how we budget and plan, manage enrolments, or appraise programs.

This is truly an exciting time to work and study at Concordia. Our University is home to outstanding scholars and teachers, and to exceptional students from every part of Canada and the world. Members of our academic community are working energetically to make this a great institution, and we invite you to join us!
