The Academic Program Appraisal is a means of program self-renewal to achieve two things: maintain high quality programs and fulfill public trust. These appraisals also provide an aid to academic planning at program, Faculty and university levels.
Concordia has developed appraisal guidelines based on a policy agreed upon by Quebec universities, and each program is appraised once during a seven-year cycle.
Steps in appraisals:
- Program Self-Appraisal (faculty, student, staff)
- Evaluations by external consultants who are experts in the field(s)
- University Appraisal Committee, which formulates recommendations
- The Implementation Plan to be written by the Faculty Dean, and in the case of graduate programs, in consultation with the Dean of Graduate Studies
- Response by the Provost and Vice Rector, Research
- Academic Planning at program, Faculty, and university levels is informed by the resulting UAC Dossier.
